E pluribus unum, Latin for "Out of many, one", is really a motto requested by Pierre Eugene du Simitiere (originally Pierre-Eug鈩e Ducimeti鑽e) and discovered in 1776 about the Seal from the United States, along with Annuit c徘tis and Novus ordo seclorum, and adopted by an Act of Congress in 1782.<>] The phrase is comparable to some Latin translation of a variation of Heraclitus' 10th fragment, "Out of all issues a single, a single out of all points." A variant in the phrase was utilised in Moretum, a poem attributed to Virgil but while using the actual author unknown. Within the poem text, color est e pluribus unus describes the blending of colors into one. St Augustine utilized a variant with the phrase, ex pluribus unum, in his Confessions.
